Windows XP Owners - XP Communication Problem

"I have managed to trace the cause of the problem - Microsoft ActiveSync. This is the utility used to synchronize between a PC and a PDA running PocketPC. Under WinXP, but not under W2K this utility seems to block proper access to the COM ports even if the PDA cradle is connected via USB.

When I remove ActiveSync from WinXP, the comms between the Explorer and the simulator works fine. The same solution worked fine on both of the XP machines I tried.

Please feel free to pass this solution on to other users having problems with XP."

Thank you to Dr. Alexander Malcolm for tracing the problem. (3/31/04)
